Dandelions!
Or, as my friend and I call them, dampy-lions.
They’re great to make wishes on, almost like a birthday candle.

i think you;’re talking about dandelions….
i think you mean the dandelions after the yellow petals have fallen off; those white things flying are actually seeds not petals
how this is what you mean

I’m pretty sure they’re a type of dandelion.

Dandelions–
Those aren’t flowers, they are just the seed.
The flower is yellow.
You can also make poison from them, and dandelion wine.
They are species that was a "flower" in Europe. But when they came to America they spread like, well like weeds– and so that’s all they are today, a weed with a colourful history– like the pidgeon, which used to be called a Rock Dove in Europe.

Definitely dandelions and those little white things you are talking about are seeds which destroys lawns and can become quite an eyesore the following year.
I personally do not like them as there roots are quite extensive to get at and still the buggers grow. A good weed and feed fertilizer will help remove them. To me they are a weed..

Those are dandelion seed heads. The dandelion flower is yellow, then it forms the white puff and a breath or a breeze sends the little seeds flying.
