Special Ways to Celebrate Father’s Day

There are many ways to make Dad’s day special indeed.

Handmade gift ideas and activities to make this Father’s Day special.

    fathers day gift ideas

The third Sunday in June is a special day that is set aside to honor our fathers and the other special men (stepfathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, etc.) in our lives. You have probably heard the saying "The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach." This Father’s Day you can make that saying come true. Plan a barbecue and make and bottle some homemade barbecue sauce for dad. (Go to Father’s Day craft for instructions) Invite family as well as friends who are close to your dad or just let it be you and your dad. For dessert, set up an ice cream sundae bar. No dessert could be simpler than the ice cream sundaea scoop of ice cream, a sweet topping, a dollop of whipped cream, and a cherry at the top. Provide a variety of flavors of ice cream (make sure that Dad’s favorite flavor is there) and toppings (crushed cookies, small candies, sprinkles, nuts, crumbled candy bars fruit toppings, hot fudge, caramel topping, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and maraschino cherries).

    Things to Do with Dad
With children, make a list of things that they can do with their dads or other special men in their lives (fly a kite, plant a vegetable garden, lie underneath the stars, build a birdhouse, play catch, make popcorn and watch a favorite video, pack a picnic, go for a bike ride, read a book or spend time on the computer together, etc.).

    Treasure Hunt
Take a walk and pick up as many neat treasures as you can find while you are walking (like bottle caps and bits of wire). Make a picture with your findings and add some glue. Place it inside a frame with no glass.

    Father’s Day Cards
If you’re having some trouble choosing a card, why not make one yourself? A handmade card or note from the heart speaks more of your feelings than the store bought variety. We have several card patterns from which to choose on our site.

    Father’s Day Coupons
Make a book of tickets that Dad can redeem for things like "One board game with me" or "One free hug." For a special presentation, wrap them up in a small box and tie with ribbon or yarn.

    Games Day
Have a Games Day. Get together with a few other people and play games. Each person brings a favorite board game to share or picks an outdoor game everyone can have fun with like soccer or croquet.

Crown Dad King for the Day
Have children make Dad a crown. Get a big sheet of paper and draw a crown shape. Decorate it with glitter, yarn, ribbon, pom-poms, fancy buttons, sequins, or whatever you have on hand and staple it together.

Many people will say that it is difficult to shop for their dad but if you let your heart guide you, you will surely find the right gift for dad.

How Father’s Day came to be is still not really known but there is a very early record of a boy in Babylon who had made a Father’s Day card for his dad which he made with clay. This was over four thousand years ago and on the card he wished his dad a long and healthy life. Boys loved their dads that long ago. Just think of your child doing something like that for you. The emotions that you feel are certain to be overwhelming particularly consider the primitive tools the boy had at his disposal during the time.

There is no documentation of what happened to this child or to his father but this simple gesture sparked a tradition around the world that we now know to be Father’s Day. It is a day when people all around the world honor their fathers. People should understand first and foremost that life is short and our time on this earth is limited. Everyone should enjoy the time that they have with their dads now because there is no telling when life can be cut short or the flame that is life will die away with the onset of disease or memory loss.

    Father’s Day

Dad, This Is For You!  I couldn’t have said this better myself.

    Father's Day

Maternity is certainty; paternity is hearsay.

    What a glorification?!

Mother carries the infant in her womb. This is visible to the world. Hence that is the certainty.

Father does not have a womb; ‘Creator’ made it a woman’s privilege. So his genes are hearsay.

Universe sings praises of mother. She is irreplaceable. Not that father is.
Mother’s shoulders can take the additional responsibility of father. But, can never become a father. Vice versa does not hold good. Of course, exceptions prove the rule.

Single parenting is not desired by the child. It is forced upon. It does not have a say. Death snatches father; It may be fate or destiny. Child’s grief is consolable. It will resign to fate. Separation, divorce or illegitimacy is too much for the child to take. Child suffers silently for no fault. On maturity, it gets rebellious or withdrawn in to its shell. It is an unpardonable sin to deprive or snap the father-child bond.

Complete and healthy growth and personality development of the child rests on both parents. Almighty decided to have two parents for each child. Surely he may have reasons to it. ‘His’ decision is to be respected and honored. Mother has natural advantages over father. This is the game of providence.

Presence of father is essential in rearing a child. Child favors plural; not singular. Children need parents; not parent. Morals are derived from both. First few months of baby are mom’s sole responsibility; Dad cannot do much. That is Nature’s way. Child begins to recognize and understand mom and dad; both are sought by the child. Child is incomplete without either.

It feels safe and secured with father’s presence. Papa is special. No one can take his place. Certain duties are designed for father. Some are tailor made. He takes the responsibility to carry out all those in total dedication and sincerity. After all, it is towards his own blood. He feels proud.

Love between father and child is each other’s prerogative. This does not permit anyone or anything to come in between. For most teens, dad is a role model.

One parent cannot play a dual role to perfection. They are two separate individuals. Father is a father; Mother cannot become one. Gays or lesbians cannot produce a baby. Ovules by themselves cannot create a life. Their union with ’sperms’ formulates a baby. This meeting for mating explains everything.

Father is unparalleled as mother. He shares the same pedestal with the mother of his kids. Father joins his kids and world in showering praises and appreciation on the mother. In the chorus, distinctly heard is his voice!

Father, you are great. A small but fitting tribute is ‘FATHER’S DAY‘.

Responsible and legitimate fathers must take pride in this unique day. These twenty four hours belong to them. Irresponsible and illegitimates must take the cue to reform and turn a new leaf. It’s better late than never. Also, it’s never late to build this special bond. But then, earlier the better.

HAIL PAPA!! Three cheers to you.

    Father’s day for father

Father’s Day is one of those holidays that many times fall by the wayside.  We always remember Mom on her special day, but many times, Father’s Day is just another Sunday in June.  Maybe this year, you could make this a special day for him.

Father’s Day. The day the world celebrates fatherhood. Does it call for celebration? Yes…but with a difference. Usually, on other festive days, it is your dad who does all the groundworkputting up the decorations, buying the goodies, and generally ensuring that you have a great time. But this is Father’s Day His day. And so, this time, it is up to you to make it a special day for him.

Yes, it may seem difficult at first. Because generally it is dad’s department to think about others; to plan and organise things to make everyone happy. He is after all, the provider. And, in any case, what can you give your dad, who may have given you everything you have? Well, here are some things that you can do.

    Pamper your dad

Usually it is your dad who treats you like a little king. Today you can pamper him a bit. Surprise him by treating him to a scrumptious breakfast in bed. Make sure you include his favourite dishes. (You will probably need to brief mom about your plans in advance as you will need her help.) Include the morning newspaper in the breakfast tray, and for once, ensure that it is crisp and not crumpled- the way he likes to read it.

    fathers day gift

Let this be a Sunday with a difference. Do not monopolise the TV remote, skip the cartoons if you know he wants to watch another channel. You know how hard your dad works throughout the week. Do not choose his afternoon nap hour to blast the radio. And do not corner the phone so that he is compelled to beg you to let him use it.

Are there household chores your dad attends to, like bathing the dog, catching up on the gardening, washing the car, or shopping for supplies? Volunteer to take them on or at least help him with them. Also, for a change, let him decide the itinerary for the day ahead.

    Make him a card

What is the best card you can give your dad? Something he will treasure long after you have even forgotten you gave it to him? Well, it would have to be one that you crafted with your own hands. All you will need is a piece of card paper, pens, pencils, and some creativity.

Write out a personal message for him. Never mind the prose, pour your heart out, and tell him why you think he is the best dad in the world. Remind him about special family occasions that you enjoyed or recount an incident when he did something that really touched you. Employ your drawing skills, stick in pictures from the family album, and embellish the card with ribbons or trinkets. And then watch him beam with pride as he shows off your card to all his friends.

    Give him a gift

Buy your dad a special Father’s Day gift. You know your dad best. Buy him something related to his hobbies or something he likes to do. If he loves to read, buy him a book that you know he will love.
If he is fond of photography, you can gift him a camera accessory or some film rolls.

    Give him your time

We return to the original question, "What can you give your dad, who has given you everything you have?" Well, give him something he cannot give himselfyour time and love.

Spend this one day with him, the way he would love to. If you have always been finding excuses to avoid playing chess with him, give him the pleasure of a game with you. Plan an outing to the newly opened gallery that he has been talking about. Postpone an evening out with your friends to accompany him to a gathering of his old friends across town.

If you find him giving you a puzzled look, father’s day tell him today is his day after all, and that you want him to enjoy it as much as he can. Even if he acts completely nonchalant about it,
